Course title: Highway Survival Program (Classroom)
Duration: 3 hrs in length
Cost: Call for proposal
Equipment needed: Cones, flags, flares & other props, paper and pen
Course description: Facts show that there are more and more cars on the highway then ever before. With every vehicle comes the chance that it may either crash, burn or take up room at your next roadway scene. We've also witnessed an increase with traffic related emergency personnel deaths on highway scenes these last few years. This program was developed to help emergency responders plan to combat this important and frightening data. Students can expect to learn about modern ways to deal with traffic on scenes using equipment to warn oncoming traffic, special vehicle placement, proper body language and communication skills etc. The course also explains ways to deal with irate drivers and the options you have with them. For conclusion we'll show a video of a firefighter being struck by a speeding motorist at an accident scene and finish up with a real-life case study of an emergency worker being struck and killed at an intersection.
About the Highway Survival program
We've trained hundreds of emergency personnel including the U.S. Military, Fire, police, EMS and forest rangers. This program can be added onto with a half-day hands-on portion using department vehicles in a controlled environment. We recommend starting with the basic level program before purchasing the more advance courses and yes we can teach two programs back to back or combined with other programs. We're here to assist you and your personnel, call with questions or for a proposal.
